truthseekeriam, The JW cult destroys families in many different ways and on many different levels. I know. It's happened to my family and extended family also.

by confliction inso i was speaking about some "problems" and "confusion" i had about the wtbs, and while speaking the subject of shunning came up.. .
long story short, my mom said that if i were (theoretically) ever to leave,.
she would still speak to me and have me over and do all the normal things .

Still Feeling Lost...What to Do Next?
by daringhart13 ini'm wondering how many of you still feeling a burning need to know god and have a relationship with him.. i am dealing with the horrible emotions of having faded, done some things that would be considered immoral, stopped praying (not sure i ever prayed right) and generally just feeling lost...... what have some of you done to get back on track?
i've been fading for a year and a half.
missing my first dc..... ugh.....having a crappy morning i guess...... just feel like i want to talk to god, but can't.. ironic, huh?

I agree with Emptyinside. JWs have all the answers. Everything is black and white. But when you wake up you realize that's just not the way it is in real life. We will never have everything figured out and all tied up in a pretty little package. There will always be questions unanswered. Enoy TODAY. This is your life.

The old big orange "Paradise" book
by aquagirl inanyone remember that?
i learned to read on that book.there were some very disturbing images, like the earth opening up and people falling into it.like upside down ladies and hippies.id love to get a hold of one and peruse it with a friend and some herbal medicine.maybe there is one in the attic?anyway, that and the image of the snake talking to the beautiful, bare shouldered eve,who was holding an apple, made a big impression on me.any else have any faves from that book?is it still being used?.

I remember the PLPR book very well. Thanks for the link. It's good to look back at it now 50 years later and laugh. It is healing. Because there was nothing funny about it back then. I also learned to read with this book. And all those illustrations are permenently imprinted on my brain.

There hasn't been a JW going door-to-door in my neighborhood in at least 2 1/2 years. Before that I used to see them about once a month. There seemed to be an abrupt change. I don't see JWs or their maganzines anywhere anymore.

My husband's nephew has no sense of smell. Never has. It doesn't seem to affect him that much but maybe he just doesn't know what he is missing.
He seems to enjoy eating and seems to be able to taste things.

Despite your reservations with being a JW, did you ever sometimes felt like you accomplished something in field service?
by miseryloveselders ini've got my fair share of things that irritate me to no end regarding this religion.
however, i have to be fair.
i got up this morning, and for some reason i didnt feel overwhelmingly negative about what i was getting ready to do.

NO!
And I honestly believe that my parents never felt that they accomplished anything in it either. Especially my mother and eventually my father after he got past the love bombing and the power trip.
